Copenhagen party town

Our perspective of Copenhagen may be slightly warped because of the giant street party on the night of Dom's birthday . Our flat was slap bang in the middle of it and as Dom said it was just awesome . I was a little worried about how we were going to get to sleep that night with continual partying on just outside our door but after being on one of Harley's walking tours ( yes this time H was the guide) of Copenhagen plus a little partying with the 21 year olds you feel pretty knackered.

We managed to have traditional birthday breakfast with Dom, ( yummy ) see the old hippy community  Christiania, ( a bit depressing)  the little mermaid statue ( highly over rated) the national library ( fantastic built over the highway ) and a ferry ride before we had to head back for Doms party preparations .

The preparations turned out to be fairly minimal as the street party was already in full swing ( 4 pm) by the time we got back to the flat ( doesn't anyone have to go to work - it's a week night) . The shops were already full of people so it was pretty hard to buy anything. Doms mates were very appreciative of the couple of bags of chips and few pizzas we managed to purchase . I wish all 21sts were so cheap and civilised. The kids insisted on cleaning up before they left . We had not one single speech ( although Harley did find a few soccer fans he could exchange soccer rants with.) Great fun . Dom now on his way to Budapest and we are off to Stockholm by train with some interesting travel companions

The pace with tour leader Harley is cracking but we the tourees  are having a great time ( we have vetoed the early starts and are  reaching some other compromises ( Amy does not think standing in the Macdonalds queue 5 minutes before your train is due to depart is cutting it too fine )

Love seeing the photos especially of Amy and Dom. Happy birthday to Dom! What a brilliant memory having your 21st in Copenhagen! Oddly I remember the little mermaid being a bit disappointing when I saw it aged 14. Keep blogging I love reading of your adventures.
